Optical Disks

The HP computers IRAUX1, IRAUX4, IRAUX5 and IRAUX6 have removable optical disk drives. IRAUX1 and IRAUX6 can read disks of 1.3 GBytes (the ``yellow'' disks) and 650 Mbytes, while IRAUX4 and IRAUX5 can only read the 650 MBytes one. These optical disks are double-faced. To prevent handling errors (confusion between projects for example), the disks have a project identifier and are initialized with one face ``reserved'' for CLIC data (``ipb'' face) and the second one for maps (``map'' face). Before being accessible to the user, the optical disk must be software mounted using the commands:

   $ load_don ipb iraux1    ! or iraux6, for the ``ipb'' side,
or
   $ load_don map iraux1    ! or iraux6, for the ``map'' side,

Once finished with data handling, the optical disk must be dismounted before unloading, using the command

   $ unload_don

The ``unload_don'' command fails if any active process is still working on the optical disk, or has one of the optical disk directory has working directory. Logoff any process, and move to the home directory before using this command.

Please reserve IRAUX1 and IRAUX6 drives for 1.3 GBytes ``yellow'' disks. If the drive on your peculiar machine is used, you can mount a disk on the other drives from IRAUX1, using command

   $ load_don map iraux5
or $ load_don ipb iraux6
but the disk will be mounted in ``ReadOnly'' mode. If you need write access, log on the other computer and work from there.
