The CLEAN method is the major image deconvolution
method available in GILDAS (several variants
can be used).
Recently, a new deconvolution method, WIPE, has been
implemented in MAPPING .
- CLEAN
The CLEAN task implements
several variants: the basic algorithm as described by HOGBOM,
the CLARK modification which cleans most of the image,
and a Multi-Resolution-Clean (MRC). The HOGBOM and CLARK methods
allow both the image and the beam to be 3-D cubes. For the MRC method
the same beam must be used to clean all planes.
- MX
The MX tasks implements a variant of the CLARK method, where clean
components are substracted from the visibilities at each major cycles,
rather than from the map. Aliased sidelobes are therefore suppressed.
- MAPPING
is an interactive deconvolution program described below.
MAPPING is more flexible and more powerful than CLEAN, and
allows proper deconvolution of Mosaics. MAPPING includes new
deconvolution methods like WIPE. MAPPING also includes
interactive UV editing.
